If you’ve ever wondered why one vocal sounds expensive and another sounds flat, this is where you start.

This workshop is perfect for artists recording at home, producers refining their sound, and engineers who want stronger fundamentals. You will compare dynamic, condenser, and ribbon microphones in real time, test polar patterns, and experiment with placement on vocals, acoustic guitar, amps, and drums.

You will learn:

  • How different microphones shape tone

  • How proximity effect and off axis positioning affect sound

  • How to choose the right mic for the genre and source

  • How to troubleshoot common recording problems

You will leave knowing how to confidently select and place microphones instead of guessing and hoping.

All workshops take place at Echo Mountain’s professional studio in downtown Asheville. Space is intentionally limited to keep the experience hands on and high quality.
